Future studies are considered one of the main important and necessary tools for any country, society, or institution to anticipate the future and identify the opportunities and challenges that it faces taking into consideration the dynamic fast-changing world, controlled by many of the expected and unexpected high-impact drivers. COVID-19 is considered the unexpected wildcard which reshapes our global future and make the future studies one of the main priorities around the world.

The main theme of ICFSRM 2021 conference is

"Foreseeing the Global Futures with Emphasis on the Middle East and Africa in the Aftermath of "COVID-19 Pandemic""

The Millennium Project (MP) as an international futures studies and research organization with 67 nodes around the world is effectively participating in the conference with speakers, presentations and discussions.

8-9th September 2021

Introduction and Objectives

The unexpected circumstances due to the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic cannot be considered as just a health crisis facing the humankind. The effects and consequences of this pandemic become similar to those of a global biological war or natural disaster hitting the entire globe with severe health, economic and social impacts. Moreover, deep effects on all areas and sectors that cover all aspects of life.

The world did not face a single global cross-border threat such as the Coronavirus epidemic. What happened cannot be unexpected: closing borders around the world, stopping airlines in many countries, closing basic services and calls to close factories. Schools and universities are closed, the streets are empty, hospitals are overcrowded, and hundreds of millions are under house arrest.

There is a great opportunity to turn this crisis into an unprecedented opportunity to form a better future for the globe if restarted with a new thought that allows pivotal changes instead of gradual changes with simple steps in a steady direction, and not only to restore matters to what they were before. The question that must be answered is whether all the changes imposed by COVID 19 must help us to choose a different starting point for new norm that enable us to build a better future than what we were trying to achieve?

The Main theme of ICFSRM 2021 Conference is "Foreseeing the Global Futures with Emphasis on the Middle East and Africa in the Aftermath of "COVID-19 Pandemic"" with the following objectives:

1- Foreseeing the Global Futures and Consequences of COVID 19,
....................................
2- Review Different Global Future Studies Efforts around the world,
....................................
3- Networking between all on the local, Regional and International Levels,
4- Discuss and Interchange the point of views and opinions for different possible Futures for AFRICA and MENA region,
5- Explore different Development Road Maps with their Global and Future Challenges.
