Prof. Meer Hamza is currently the dean of International programs at the Arab Academy for Sc., Technology & Maritime Transport, before he was the Vice President of the Arab Academy for Sc., Technology & Maritime Transport, He received his Ph.D. In computing and information systems from University of Paisley, Scotland, U.K. 1996, Dissertation Title "The provision of software quality advice through the integration of quality function deployment and case based reasoning methodologies" and his M. Sc. in Computer Science from Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt. 1989 Thesis Title: "Software Reliability Assessment" Computer Science Department and his B. Sc. in Computer Sc. (Distinction with the degree of honor) from Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt. 1985.
Prof. Meer Hamza joined the Academy in 1996 as an assistant professor. Due to his remarkable and extensive efforts, he has been assigned a number of managerial posts in which he has contributed extensively . In 2002 he was appointed as the chairman of the department of Management information system in the College of Management and Technology. In 2003 he became the founding dean of the College of computing and information technology. Moreover, in 2004 he was appointed as the acting dean of the College of Management and Technology. One year later he became the dean of College of Management and Technology. Furthermore, in 2008 he was assigned as the Dean of graduate school of business and in 2010 he was promoted to be the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. Currently, he is responsible of the internationalization file within the Academy, cooperation with international universities and entities, Joint programs and research.
Over the years , Prof. Hamza was the author of over 40 publications in the field of software engineering in accredited journals and conferences. He had also shared and supervised a lot of consultancies projects for a number of local and multinational companies. He has shared in emphasizing the Academys international presence by his active contribution in many international events. At the same time, he has strengthened the Academys local impact with multiple programs that connect students and faculty with the societal needs. Dr. Hamza has been a full professor since 2005 due to his academic contributions.
Prof. Hamza also was a visiting Professor in a number of Universities in the Arab Gulf, specifically in Saudi Arabia, King Saud University and Sultan Qaboos University in Oman where he was awarded "Best Professor" award in 1999. He also supervised a number of Masters and Doctorate dissertations in Egypt and UK. He was a board member and chairman of board of a number of organizations and societies, the latest of them being a member of the executive board of the Euro Arab School of Management located in Granada, Spain.
Besides, Prof. Hamza great contribution in the academic and research field, his share in the consultancy was not less. He worked as a senior consultant for a number of local and international firms. Also his managerial posts was always non-traditional and challenging posts starting from being the founding Dean of a new established College passing through the deanship of the college of business where it was restructured and new departments were established, then being the dean of the graduate school of business with establishing a number of institutes following the school in different areas of management with international cooperation and business impact. His challenge lies now in improving and making sure that all graduate programs in the whole Academy are internationally accredited, also establishing more links and cooperation with other top ranked universities, enhancing the research activities and make it more linked with industry.
