Tyseer Aboulnasr is an Electrical Engineering professor retired from University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Dr Aboulnasr received the Bachelor of Engineering degree from Cairo University, Egypt, M.Sc.and Ph.D. degrees from Queen's University, Kingston, Canada; all in Electrical Engineering. She was Dean of the Faculty of Applied University of British Columbia from 2008-2011 and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa from 1998-2004. Dr. Aboulnasr received the Ottawa-Carleton YWCA Women of Distinction Award (Education) in 1999 and was elected Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada in 2002 and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2003. She was named as one of the 100 most influential people in Ottawa,Canada's capital, in 2001 and of the 100 most influential women in British Columbia in 2010. She received her highest honour in 2005 when she was named as a 2004 recipient of the Order of Ontario. In 2012, she received the Queen's diamond Jubilee Award and was recognized as the ASME Egypt Woman of the Year. As a volunteer, she is currently focused on creating the necessary environment and supporting government, university, and NGO initiatives to realign research and innovation in Egypt, address society's challenges, improve people's lives. She has been extensively engaged in launching the Technology Innovation and Commercialization Offices (TICO) nationally and driving a culture of foresighting.
